‘Ontario's provincial police service will no longer release the gender of people who are charged with crimes and those who are victims of crimes. The policy change comes following a review of legislation and the need to be more progressive.’

More evidence of losing count of sex, as a relevant analytical and policy category.
The new @ScotStat working group on sex and gender data needs to recognise the implications of this wider shift, and what the loss of sex-based data collection and/or publication means for addressing sex-based discrimination.
@ScotStat While the distinction between sex & gender id isn't clear in Scottish criminal justice proceedings stats (which matters for categories where the no. of female offenders is particularly low), the overall difference in criminal convictions between men & women couldn't be starker. 
@ScotStat Also on a data theme, here's a final plug for our @mbmpolicy blog on the sex question in the 2021 census.
