I have a new book out. It's written by a twelve year old child and is a celebratory odyssey of wildness, in praise of solitude.
Half the earnings for this book will go towards making libraries in schools.
There is something at its heart that is seldom spoken of.

2. The author of the book, aged 12 when she wrote it, disappeared aged 25. She was never found, has never been declared dead.
In the UK between 180 000 and 250 000 people go missing every year.
Of 'teenage runaways' the overwhelming % is young women.

3. Recent years have shown a 72% increase in the rise of missing people.
Perhaps the most alarming thing is that stats on missing children in EU is in excess of 250 000 a year.

4. Barbara wrote about escape in all her work.My hope for her is that she chose to disappear and re-invent herself.
Others go missing for many reasons.
How can we care so little as a society for those children who fall through the thin veneer of civilasation?

5. Libraries are important to me. 50% of The House Without Windows is not my work. Barbara loved books. Books empower the minds of children. I hope she would approve of her earnings being used to provide books in school libraries, for learning, but also for children to escape.

It is the light and the love that I adore in The House Without Windows. It is a Utopian Odyssey by a young writer.

8. The name of her character is Eepersip...... birds call her name from the skies. She loves the flight of them and swallows are her favourite.
