1. What we don't know at all.... whether a text can be agreed tonight for Barnier to give green light to EU to go ahead for summit
2. What we do know - after a very contradictory day, there is a sense there's something imminent - Barnier is back in Brussels and has promised to brief EU ambassadors at 2pm tomorrow, after a possible Commissioners meeting in the morning...
3. To mix metaphors appallingly, looking for white smoke on green light tomorrow afternoon

1. As we head to Brussels, there is a draft deal on the table that does 2 things the PM was told couldn't be done - whole UK leaves the customs union, with some special arrangements for Northern Ireland, but there is an exit mechanism
2. There is a BUT of giant proportions - the DUP is not on board, they have a simple concern that the proposed way out of the non backstop-backstop (it needs a better name than special arrangements, ideas anyone? I heard 'safety net' a while ago) gives too much power to Sinn Fein
3. Their fear is that nationalist community could vote to keep NI tied more closely to EU against the Unionists wishes for years to come - some people will accuse them of wilful stubborness, but the concerns are genuine that it's not a deal they can sell to their voters at home

PM has just spoken to Macron - hear the 2 men both acknowledged there was positive momentum towards getting a deal done and avoiding delays but lots of hurdles to overcome still
Like last time, sounds like France less keen on extending the process again compared to some other member states - in theory, that might be helpful to UK, altho last time round, Macron agreed with the others to extend again
Bit more on Macron/Johnson call - understand France is reluctant to have another delay but the President raised possibility of technical extension

1. What a strange day - Queen’s Speech normally a huge day, this year is basically a warm up for a Tory manifesto because very unlikely any of the measures will pass
2. Govt announces Budget will be Nov 6th - normally also a big deal, expect it might not be then if there is no deal, or indeed if we are already into an election campaign which is also possible
3. Meanwhile it’s all over shadowed by whether there can be a deal with EU in time -

There's already a couple of amendments to the PM's motion on extending Article 50, one from Ian Blackford and one from Peter Bone
Quick reminder.: This is the motion the PM must put before the House under the Cooper bill, which was passed last night.
It does give MPs the power to amend the requested date of extension. Blackford's amendment, weirdly enough, doesn't extend the date. It simply makes it inflexible, removing the right for the UK to leave ahead of the June 30 deadline.

How @DailyMailUK twisted the results of @Survation poll and created a nice little frontpage to support Theresa May with some beautiful YESes in red and some lovely supporting words, even though the front page does not actually reflects the results of the poll...

An EU source tells me that today's #Barnier #Brexit op-ed does not signal any shift in the EU position or offer anything new to the UK. They said reflects what has been said on previous occasions by Mr Barnier and that he had "nothing concrete in mind".
Asked about the timing, the source said the #Barnier #Brexit piece targetted the 26 EU member states other than the UK and Ireland & was "an exercise in bringing all other member states up to speed on the state of play" and "was not drafted in any way to signal a change".
EU source re. #Brexit #Barnier "We're saying we aren't intransigent, we're willing to listen, we'll consider innovative solutions w. in the clear legal limits. But if [UK] is not flexible...there's no room for flexibility".
