As I'm sure everyone is aware: No, nobody has been trying to make this deal. The West has been trying doggedly to stop exactly this scenario for some time.
The West position for awhile has been: Get rid of ISIS, help the Kurds set up a de facto state, work to get Assad out of Syria so it can reconstitute its borders again.

And it looks like the Kurds weren't even consulted on this. Senior Kurdish politician says this deal is a no-go.

But the full deal just came out, and it involves unilateral Turkish administering of the supposed "safe zone" in N. Syria which is going to be a tough pill to swallow.
