The best argument for the GOP to make, both for the health of the country and, also, politically is: "Yes, this is wrong. It was inappropriate and the President shouldn't have done it and shouldn't do it again. But it doesn't rise to an impeachable offense."
But I don't think they *can* really make that argument because Trump won't let them make it. He'll go nuts if they do.
And so we're likely gonna end up in a place where the entire GOP is making the equivalent of Trump's lawyers' argument today in court: even if he murders someone in broad daylight, there is literally nothing you can do.
