I’m repeating myself, but you’re not going to see Republicans opposing this in harsh terms until Democrats oppose it in even harsher terms. No portion of the GOP is going to speak more loudly than the opposing party on this
We’ve been stuck in this thing for years where we ask Republicans to condemn and resist Trump, but allow that Democrats should “not get distracted, and stay focused on the issues.” But as a purely practical matter, Dem ambivalence takes the pressure off the GOP to say anything.
In general, in both politics and media, I sometimes get a sense that misbehavior and corruption in the GOP is an internal issue for the GOP. The problem is, that gives them the option of shrugging and saying “You know what? It’s mostly hurting you, so we’re cool with it.”
