I believe the best 2019 GE result we can hope for is Labour the largest party, but so far short of a majority that it will need both the LibDems and SNP to cooperate to put it into power. Forces Corbyn to rein in his extreme plans while taking the toxic Tories out of the picture.
Any seat won by the LibDems helps towards this. But any seat that couldn't be won by the LibDems when seen through the cold analytical prism of reality, but where a tactical voting drive pushed votes to the LibDems regardless, actively hinders the overall "best case" scenario.
In other words, "LibDems everywhere" is a foolish strategy, not an optimum one. Even for those who are passionately Remain. But "LibDems everywhere they have a real chance" is an excellent strategy.

For 4 ferry companies, Christmas just came early... "If the extra capacity is not needed, including under a negotiated Brexit deal, the government will pay the companies up to £11.5m in termination fees." A profitable business, not offering services! theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Under normal circumstances I imagine there might be grounds for an investigation. But Chris Grayling set the incompetence bar so stratospherically high, this isn't even a pinprick to an elephant by comparison.
Just to be clear, the companies in question are major operators (unlike last time) so the questions raised must all be on the Government side of the equation.

Now follows the least gripping vote on an election under the FTPA because we know most of Labour are sitting it out so unless there's a remarkable turnaround (like they all leap out of broom cupboards and ignore the whip) a loss for the Government is nailed on.
That was odd. The Government seem so sure they're going to lose that they almost didn't bother to say "aye" at all when the Speaker called out. John Bercow accepted a half-hearted whisper as "enough" backing for the vote to be held.
BBC commentators: "There isn't the usual level of excitement in the chamber." Hardly surprising since this vote is a fait accompli.
