Me: What sort of Brexit do you want
Them: Just want out from their control.
Me: But Johnson's deal includes "comprehensive deep regulatory cooperation" which mean following EU laws with no say.
Them: But it's the right direction.
Me: It's the opposite of what you just said!
As a I always say. Most Leavers aren't like this. But when I meet this type... We literally got to a point where I said "but that means less control" and she said "fine".
I've just left the family event as a direct consequence.
Our country is on a knife edge and that mentality may just push us over the edge into years of negotiations... And given that the negotiations so far have gone great and certainly haven't been a historic national humiliation from which we may never recover... more years of that?!

1) Song from 18th century when we were engaged in the slave trade.
2) "Britain never ever shall be slaves" "none so blest as thee"
i.e A song bragging about how we're not the ones being enslaved, FROM WHEN WE WERE ENSLAVING PEOPLE.
@lilyallen So you know how the reason "black face" is offensive is due to the historical connotations of Caucasian people painting themselves black to mimic black people going right back to slavery?
A song from the slave days which gloats about slavery...

I love that not one of the outraged replies I've seen even tries to say the song doesn't originate from bragging about how we enslaved other people and don't get enslaved ourselves.
Because being patriotic means believing that everything your country ever does or did is perfect.

Labour Brexit policy.
1️⃣: Ask the EU for single market and Customs union membership.
2️⃣: Referendum between that and Remain.

1️⃣ either won't happen or will be time limited by SNP/Dem MPs.
2️⃣ DUP & Brexit Party are anti Johnson's deal. MOST Leavers would oppose Corbyn's. i.e <50%
Would I prefer an immediate referendum? Probably as a referendum on Johnson's deal would be better received.
But there's a strong argument to say a decision on whether Northern Ireland should leave the UK's regulatory juridiction belongs solely to the people of Northern Ireland.
My point? Can't believe I'm saying this: But I say this as the committed Remainer all of you know I am...
Stop attacking Labour's Brexit policy.
It's not perfect. But the referendum pledge is enough.
Letting Boris Johnson get in because you don't trust Corbyn on Brexit is silly.

Remember as a kid when you assumed the leaders of a country would be the best people in that country?!
With all the resignations due to attacks, bullying and scandals, I can really see what @frankieboyle was talking about...
But at the same time, it should make you accept that you're not going to get the A-Team government in the election but #GE19 isn't about the MPs.
It's about whether we spend the next 5-10 years tackling regional inequality and climate change, or negotiating with the EU and Trump.

November 1st, and we’re still in the #EU thanks entirely to the @Conservatives (Brexit means #Brexit, Deal or No Deal, Do or Die, No Ifs No Buts, blah blah) who have been in power every day since the referendum. They could have taken us out at any time, but they chose not to.
@Conservatives The #Tories brazenly reneged on the core promise of their last manifesto, and they’ve got the nerve to behave as if it’s not their fault. It is entirely their fault that the UK is still in the #EU after more than three years. It was entirely in their hands after the referendum.

The Conservative Party has royally screwed it up. Their options when it comes to their current polling position and Parliamentary deadlock are limited. They have decisions to make, and it’s about time they look at who has been working with, not against them. 1/
Firstly let’s add some context. This is how I see the priorities of an MP and how I naively believe they see them as well.

1. The U.K, it’s Sovereign lands, Crown dependent states and its allies.
2. Their constituents voice when made clear, should be above their opinions. 2/
3. The traditions of the office they hold for Ministers and holding the executive to account for the backbenchers.

4. Lastly, their party.

I’m sure many will disagree with the order, but I’ll explain why it doesn’t matter, they are the order in which decisions should 3/

Albeit largely technical, agencies will have huge implications on Brexit.

Five points stand out in particular:
First, Agencies matter. Like the customs union, they are a technical aspect of the EU, that works and was thus hardly discussed in the UK before #Brexit.
But they are important for single market, but also justice and home affairs.

UK gov thus has already asked to continue participation in selected agencies, in particular in sectors important to the UK economy, like aviation, chemicals or pharma.
