THREAD: ZAMZAM & SAWs ANCESTRY

1: Long after Ismail’s AS time, ZamZam was lost for centuries until Abdul Muttalib (re)discovered it. The well hasn’t been lost since then.

Ofcourse, the history of ZamZam begins with Hajar’s (RA) sa’ay btw Safa & Marwa
2..when she went looking for water for baby Ismail. Following this, the Jurhum tribe, an arab tribe that were passing by for trade, tracked down the water to the arid Makkah valley. They asked Hajar for permission to stay. She agreed on condition that the well remain in her care
3:..When Ismail grew up he married into the Jurhum tribe, which is how SAWs arab ancestry started. With time, long after Ismail had passed away, the Jurhum tribe (along with Ismail’s descendants) were chased out of the haram area by a warring tribe (Banu Khuza’).
4: That’s ~when ZamZam was lost: some say it dried up, others say the Jurhums buried it before they were chased out to deprive their enemies. In any case, ZamZam became lost..but its history was not forgotten esp since ZamZam was what really brought life to the area.

With time..
5: The Quraysh line among Ismail’s descendants took off. Key ancestors of SAW are Adnan, Fihr, Qusayy & Hashim

Fihr is though be the person with the alias “Quraysh” to whom quraysh trace their lineage

Down the line, Qusayy bin Kilab proved to be a game changer; a political
6: ..maverick. He figured out a way to marry the daughter of the Banu Khuza’s chief (☺️) and proved himself so much that the tribal chief nominated Qusayy to become the next leader! And thats how quraysh came back to ‘mecca”!

Qusayy transformed the “city”
7: He built the daarul nadwa (kind of a house of assembly) and delegated tasks eg who was responsible for upkeep of ka’abah, welfare of pilgrims/travelers etc

His grandson, Hashim, was an economic guru. Hashim helped make Makkans prosperous by introducing..
8: ..the two trading caravans referred to in suratul Quraish (rihlatal shita’i was saif”). The winter caravan went down to Yemen and the summer caravan went up to Syria. This brought economic prosperity to Makkah & made it a sustainable flourishing merchant “city”.
9: Hashim‘s son Abdul Mutallib merged political and economic power. Abdul Muttalib was not Mutallib’s son or slave. He was his nephew. Abdul Mutallib's real name was Shaybah bin Hashim. His mother was from Yathrib (daughter of chief of Khazraj). She (Salma bin Amr) was such..
10: a powerful merchant-lady that she only agreed to marry Hashim on condition that she will stay in Yathrib, continue her business independently & any kids they have will stay with her until adolescence (😅). Hashim agreed☺️ (Chai! Namiji!)

He died shortly after the marriage
11: Abdul Mutallib was known as such because when his uncle Mutallib (Hashim's brother) heard about him, he went to Yathrib and “enticed“ him back to Makkah. Upon entering Makkah with the young boy people initially though the boy was Mutallib’s slave, thus the name Abdul Muttalib
12: Abdul Mutallib matured into a rich influential leader. Then he began to have a series of dreams with clues telling him to dig for ZamZam...

And thats how ZamZam was (re)discovered by Abdul Mutallib which further solidified his/ Banu Hashim’s political prestige among arabs
13: Why did I choose this topic?
A: Ancestry was a big part of arab history including how Islam took shape/seerah. It is worth knowing SAWs lineage at least back to Qusayy

B: The history of the blessed ZamZam well which has provided water for 1.5 millenia is worth knowing
14: C: Importantly, I wanted to demonstrate the not so obvious Will of SWT in action.

The scene was being set for SAW/rebirth of Islam

Political power: Qusayy
Economy: Hashim
Prestige: Abdul Muttalib
Banu Khuza’a (Halima Sa’adiya's tribe)
Ties to Medina: Maternal great grandma
15: Like clockwork..just that this Is all part of The Divine Response to a single dua made several millenia prior to the birth of SAW.

Recall that Ibrahim AS prayed for a nabiyy among Ismail's descendants. Indeed, his prayer was answered..but didn't manifest for >2000years!
16: But when the answer to Ibrahim’s dua manifested in the form of Khatimil Nabiyy, Al Mustapha SAW, IT ALL MAKES SENSE!

Why then would YOU lose heart about your dua not being “answered”?

Do your dua like Ibrahim AS - do your dua with absolute conviction that Ar Rabb responds
17: When you ask SWT for anything, show utmost respect to your Creator. Purify yourself, perfect your ablution. Observe the etiquette of dua: precede dua with nawafil and/or lots of tasbih. Do salatin nabiyy. Do your dua sincerely and with conviction...
18: The Quran tells us He is nearer to us than our jugulars & that He responds to our dua (2:186), therefore there is NO doubt His Response. The Response manifests in 1 of 3 ways sooner or later
*You get what want
*You get more than u asked for
*He gives u what is better for you
19: 🤔We started with ZamZam - a divine intervention and manifestation of a Hajar’s dua, zipped through pre-islamic history, circled back to Ibrahim and eventually to the Quran!

Again that’s the beauty of SAWs seerah, it leads you back to the Divine!😁
