(1/11) With the launch of Nautilus Cloud, #Tezos now finally has an end to end dApp development stack. We can finally take stock of how it compares to the benchmark, Ethereum. Here's a comparison tweet thread.
(2/11) Smart contract languages: With multiple entry points sorted and views imminent, Michelson is in many ways superior to the EVM stack. @SmartPy_io and LIGO are coming along nicely with nice IDEs imminent. Either should be competitive with Solidity and superior to Viper. ✅
(3/11) Frameworks: Since Truffle is the gold standard and they are incorporating Tezos, we are about to have parity. TPlus looks fantastic as a development environment as well, especially after more plugins become available.✅
(4/11) Indexers: Ethereum has too many to name but Conseil by Cryptonomic and TzStats are pretty solid, if I may say so myself! Having indexer nodes freely bundled with Nautilus Cloud should be an added advantage. ✅
(5/11) Infrastructure: Almost all of the Ethereum ecosystem is running off Infura. With Nautilus Cloud, we now have a viable equivalent for Tezos. With Nautilus Core, we will soon have a much more decentralized counterpart. ✅
(6/11) Libraries: ConseilJS, Taquito and othershave brought Tezos on par with web3.js and others. ✅
(7/11) Layer 2: Ethereum has a plethora of solutions but Marigold is under development and looks quite tasty. ❌
(8/11) Fungible payments & storage: Since Ethereum is also reliant on IPFS / Filecoin, Tezos is on par by definition. However, stable coins like DAI and SAI are sorely needed. There are at least two Tezos stablecoins in the works. ❌
(9/11) Decentralized identity: There is still a big opportunity in the Tezos space to work on fungible identity solutions. ❌
(10/11) I believe 2018 was the year of baking for Tezos while 2019 was the year of development tools. 2020 should be the year of product so the quality of the development stack is quite critical.
(11/11) Once the protocol upgrade process becomes mature, Tezos will become a much more predictable platform and might enjoy a major advantage over hard forking platforms like Ethereum. Exciting times up ahead in the Tezos ecosystem!
