Last night the State Department released new emails to American Oversight in response to our lawsuit - showing a paper trail from Giuliani to the Oval Office to Pompeo.

This was just the first production of documents from our first lawsuit seeking the public release of Trump administration Ukraine records. There will be more.

We can see why Secretary Pompeo refused to release these documents to Congress: the paper trail connects him to Giuliani, showing a March 2019 call right before a call to Rep. Nunes.

The fact that the State Dept. released nearly 100 pages of Ukraine-related records to us under FOIA - after denying them to Congress - confirms that the administration is engaged in obstruction of justice.

We filed two FOIAs with the State Department, one for records related to the recent recall of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, and another for communications with Giuliani or about his efforts to get Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son.

We now know why Secretary Pompeo refused to release these records to Congress. They confirm that he spoke twice with Rudy Giuliani before Ambassador Yovanovitch was recalled: americanoversight.org/state-departme…
Given that we were able to obtain nearly a hundred pages of records from the State Department through FOIA litigation, there was no legal reason to withhold the records from Congress. This shows that the administration is engaged in obstruction of justice.
