With Trump Jr. losing his mind over a years-old TV edit and powering the internet with his impotent, man-baby rage, it’s time to remind everyone that the Right projects their worst fears and insecurities about themselves on culture.

Triggered, indeed.
I think a lot about conspiracy legend William Cooper, who said in his seminal book Behold A Pale Horse that he knows there are vast global conspiracies against him because he would engage in his own conspiracies if he was in power.

That’s the essence of our moment.
The Trumps have been incredibly sensitive for decades. Donald Trump has written virtually everyone who’s ever criticized him, engaged in one pathetic feud after another. There’s a reason he and his soft brood of snowflakes lash out.

They know they’re the snowflakes.
You see this constantly and throughout history. Richard Nixon believed his enemies conspired against him so he actively grew a conspiracy against them. His insecurity about his own insecurity brought him down.
Evangelical leaders have consistently called our culture sick, depraved, sex-obsessed because they know their own problems with sickness, depravity, and obsession. They diagnose themselves with their sermons, giving their own fears flight by decrying culture.
It’s always been projection, and sometimes it’s funny but it’s incredibly troubling. Right now Republicans, led by Trump, are toppling democratic institutions because they think others would do so...because they would do it themselves first. It’s a vicious cycle.
This thing with Trump Jr. would be hilarious if it wasn’t proof that these people are so drowning in delusion of who they actually are that they’re willing to endanger vulnerable populations and free speech itself in order to hide their own raging insecurity.
It would probably be in the world’s interest, not to mention the Trumps’, if they could get into therapy and deal with their own problems, but instead we’re stuck in this ugly, vicious mass delusion and society is suffering because they can’t recognize their own faults.
And that delusion appeals to a base that’s desperate go deny their own insecurities. Trump appeals to men who are so insecure they’re drowning in fake hyper masculinity. It appeals to evangelicals in denial of their consumerist, white identity existence.
The rest of us, unfortunately, are stuck in the middle of a giant, poisonous feedback loop. Trump and his delusional kids performing as if they’re not delicate, sad, insecure people and reassuring other delicate, sad, insecure people they’re totally, totally fine.
