NEWSFLASH:

Qassem Soleimani was Iran's chief terrorist.

Iran is the world's foremost terrorist state.

Soleimani's had a direct hand in destabilizing Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan and Yemen.

Iran is weaker today, and the world is a safer, more stable place.
When Barack Obama ordered the targeted killing of Osama bin Laden in 2011, the Western world came together. Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives united to celebrate a major blow to global terrorism.

Today, the Left is condemning Trump and eulogizing a wicked menace.
We can't even agree that terrorists are bad or that America should kill a despicable enemy who murders Americans, is part of a regime that slaughters its own people & bankrolls terrorist across the globe.

Gun bans: Public Safety Minister is told to ban all "military-style assault weapons" (whatever that means... no definitions provided) and allow municipalities to ban handguns.

Nothing about cracking down on illegal gun owners, just bans on law-abiding folks.

A few things on the #KinsellaGate controversy.

1. Scheer needs to provide a better answer. "We don't comment" won't cut it. Hiring a firm to discredit a fellow conservative & paint hundreds of thousands of Canadians as racist is something we expect of Liberals, not Conservatives
2. The Conservatives have always tried to brand their opponents before they brand themselves - to varying success. Ignatieff was just visiting. Trudeau was just not ready. But doing it to Bernier in this backhanded way was pathetic. Have the courage to put your name on it.
3. Did any journalist ask the Liberals if they engage in this kind of thing? Anyone want to bet that the Liberals paid consulting firms to discredit the NDP? I highly doubt the CPC are outliers here.

Yes, it was a long time ago. But even in 2001, everyone else at the party had the good sense not to colour their face, neck and arms to mock an entire race of people.
Trudeau has a history of wearing racist make-up to impersonate and make fun of other cultures. In high-school, he also did it to perform a Jamaican folk song, he told Time Magazine.

1/ The event : #Soleimani was one of the most important actors of today’s Middle East politics. His killing by the US is the most significant event in the region in recent years. Twitter tells you analysts are in shock : “we enter unchartered territories”.
2/ The spy : Head of the #IRGC, he was the face of Iranian regional expansion in the 2010’ and the architect of a network of militias in #Iraq, #Syria, #Lebanon, which has shaped these countries’ current situation.

Holy cow! Senior militia leaders killed in American strikes in Iraq, and could include Iran’s Qassem Soleimani or one of his top aides from Iraq. Beyond insane.
So far confirmed — the Pentagon is saying two senior operatives “linked to Iran” were targeted.

Iraqi TV claims that Qassem Sulaimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed.

If true, this is no doubt the most significant/consequential killing probably in a decade.

#Israel is escalating aggressively in the region, striking sovereign, #UN-member states #Iraq, #Syria & #Lebanon in violation of international law. Important to note that any retaliatory measures from within any of these states against Israel & its military allies are legal.
Int'l law only allows "use of force" vs a sovereign state 1) in self-defense; retaliation against military aggression upon a state's territorial integrity 2) UNSC-authorized "collective action" to maintain int'l peace & security. #Israel has neither of these legal justifications.
#Israel asserts that it has to right to preemptively target perceived adversaries in any country, at any time, in any manner. This is illegal, rogue state behavior and an immediate threat to international peace & security. UN member states must censure Israel - or be complicit.
