Understand what it means when #Iran “responds” to the assassination of its top general by the Americans by hurting #Iraqis to save face and that further escalation will hurt many more Iraqis who will once again be caught in the middle.

Fuck warmongering men.

Fuck militarism.

I am no fan of the #Iranian regime. I oppose targeted assassinations. I shed no tears for Qassem Suleimani.

I am also no fan of Trump who is the latest US president - GOP & Democrat - whose wars & fuckery in the MidEast stretch so far back it’s difficult to say where it begins.

I don’t think Americans fully grasp the horror of war. There hasn’t been a war within US borders since the Civil War (?) Its soldiers - now mostly the children of the poor & people of colour - have been sent to fight other children of the poor & people of colour across the world.

My parents lived through 2 wars before I was born.

My mother was pregnant with me during one war.

And my brother and I lived through another war with our kate fra.

So that’s four wars my parents have lived through.

One of my earliest childhood memories is of standing in my family’s kitchen, air raid sirens wailing, everything pitch black and my little brother screaming during the 1973 war with Israel.

For Americans whose relatives are sent to fight wars overseas, yellow ribbons tied around trees cannot compare to the slaughter and violence endured by those whose countries have been invaded and in whose countries wars are fought.
