Anytime I talk about Trump wanting to take/keep the oil from a country we send troops to, I get people going, "Wait, what?"

Here's an example.
It's something he has said over and over again, about Iraq and Syria, and it's not "secret" but it barely gets any traction each time because our media doesn't know how to talk about it. They'll report that he says it if it seems novel enough and then move on, now it's normal.
It's very revealing that he himself thinks "I took the oil" sounds like a masterstroke, a victory. "They say I left troops there. You know what I did? I took the oil." The actual disposition of the oil is TBD but he thinks that's an answer to the criticism being referenced.
The media never follows it because "Maybe we'll do some war crimes, we'll see where the weekend takes us, who knows?" isn't a very clean narrative. They'll wait until he actually does it... at which point he's been talking about it for years and it's just very normal.
