This ✨new✨ directory includes 30+ experiments to help news organisations of all sizes forge closer ties with their communities.

Dozens of community-driven orgs have kindly shared details of tests they’ve run so others can learn and benefit.

Here's a few worth mentioning 1/8
🇩🇰 @alfortSara at @zetlandmagasin has set up a corps of engaged members to set up local pop up meetings where people share ideas, give feedback, network and discuss articles.

🇸🇪 @CatJREdwards created a @TheLocalSweden book club for people interested in learning more about the country (they discussed a different Sweden-linked book each month) and ran offline Book Club events where members could meet. thelocal.se/20190314/welco…

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @amandaelef at @clydsidermagazine hosted free guided local history walks, inspired by @tortoise's Thinkins and led by local volunteer historians. Participants took notes and photos and these were included in the next edition of the magazine.

🇪🇸 @olalla_tunas at @civio ran an email campaign to re-engage users that had previously donated, resulting in a 30% open rate and three offers of support for an upcoming investigation

It's great to have practitioners in the US share their experiments too.

I loved @AnthonyQuintano's Facebook Live office hours with @civilbeat reporters, which regularly attracted 2,000-4,000 viewers and sometimes more.

For me, the best bit about the directory is journalists sharing knowledge for the wider benefit of everyone. That kind of collaboration doesn’t happen often so I’m super grateful to the people (including @azirulnick and @javidvega) that helped spread the word.

In the future, I hope the directory will reach 50, 75, 100 experiments and be a one-stop-shop to get ideas for involving #community members in journalism.

For now, please share with colleagues, contemporaries and industry contacts alike 🙏🏽
