2/ Reminds me of one of the most revealing things about the Mueller Report: When McGahn told Trump it'd be unethical for him to pressure Sessions to "unrecuse" so as to be able to control the investigation to Trump's benefit, he responded:
3/ "You’re telling me that . . . Obama didn’t tell @EricHolder who to investigate?"
As if everyone knows that every President directs Attorney Generals to use the prosecutorial function to protect friends/injure enemies.

2/ Notice how the entire dispute, at least insofar as this letter is concerned, is about whether Iran was responsible for the series of 2019 militia attacks on U.S. forces/bases in Iraq. And *neither* side offers the UNSC any evidence on which to assess that factual dispute.
3/ Notably, Iran doesn't deny that targeting Soleimani would've been lawful if Iran *were* responsible for the militia attacks (although it doesn't expressly concede it, either).

2/... if you have any thoughts. First, doesn't there have to be a discrete, focused ad bellum proportionality calculation w/r/t force used by A against B *in a third state C*? Second, does either of you have have any sense how, if at all, states themselves assess ....
3/ ... "continuing" ad bellum proportionality? That is to say, are these papers predominately for an academic audience or are they designed to have practical application--and, if the latter, how closely do they reflect actual practice?

1/ Another important executive privilege piece from @jshaub. Whatever you might think about whether EP should *ever* outweigh congressional need in an impeachment proceeding--and the historical answer *of the Executive branch* to that question has been "no"-- this much is clear:
2/ If the communication in question *will be published in a Simon & Schuster book on March 17,* there's absolutely no justification for any Senator voting to prevent the Senate from hearing it on EP grounds in an impeachment trial, assuming it's relevant.

The show currently has 4 seasons. All of season 1 available on Netflix and has become the preferred show as a reward for a certain person in my household who is learning to use the potty. We burned through that season over the holiday and no additional seasons are on Netflix. +
And, indeed, no additional seasons are available on any of the streaming platforms...unless I want to pay more for individual episodes or full seasons on YT or Amazon. Which runs about $50 a season. $50! +

2/n: The director of @ScienceMuseum Sir Ian Blatchford argues that oil & gas companies “have the capital, geography, people & logistics to find the solutions [to climate change]." This is naive on so many levels.
3/n: First, @ScienceMuseum is legitimising fossil fuel industry's favourite false premise: that solutions to the climate crisis don't already exist. *THEY DO*. And Sir Ian knows it; just last week he wrote about how the Museum has been implementing solutions for years (bravo!).

Preliminary observations on #TurkeyElections:
1) The opposition (#Nation bloc) making major gains, including the capital Ankara & Antalya.
2) HDP proved to be kingmakers - swayed votes to the #Nation bloc.
3) AKP losing significant votes & mayors to its #Peoples bloc partner MHP.
Preliminary prediction on #TurkeyElections: AKP cadres have seen that #Erdoğan's strategy of framing the elections around the theme "existential threat" has backfired, and will start complaining of losing votes, municipalities, & spoils to their ultranationalist partner #MHP.
Of #Turkey's 12 largest cities, the opposition is winning at least 7: #Ankara, #İzmir, #Adana, #Antalya, #Mersin, #Eskişehir, & #Diyarbakır. The largest city #Istanbul is a toss-up! #Bursa, too, is too close to call. AKP is losing Turkey's economic power houses. #TurkeyElections

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
