Here's your daily dose of Michael Flynn news. His lawyers just asked the judge for more time to file briefs about their bid to withdraw his guilty plea after the government handed over more docs "material" to his bid. Read the motion here: ow.ly/KNXE50y3wcH
Flynn currently must file his next motion tomorrow at noon but his lawyers are asking for an extension until Jan. 29, with tweaks to other briefing deadlines too. They are not asking to change the sentencing date, which is currently set for Feb. 27.

NEWS: Judge Sullivan agrees to a change in the Michael Flynn briefing schedules tied to his motion to w/d his guilty plea, ordering the lawyers for both sides to explain if an evidentiary hearing is needed. Sentencing is still scheduled - for now - on Feb. 27.

Sharing some thoughts from my seat in the Senate press gallery - about 1/3 full - during Schiff’s closing speech.
Trump’s legal team had thinned out from the main defense table by the time Schiff closed, w/ Jay Sekulow scribbling notes on a yellow notepad & White House counsel Pat Cipollone sitting attentively with his arm on the back of an empty chair.
Lindsey Graham cracked a smile when Schiff made the self deprecating joke about how Trump personally keeps attacking “this Schiff guy.”

NEWS: House Dems just now point the US Court of Appeals DC Circuit to the arguments President Trump's lawyers made in the Senate impeachment trial that the proper venue for fighting a subpoena is in court, contradicting DOJ's stance in a lawsuit to hear testimony from Don McGahn.
And in a second letter, the House counsel writes to the court considering the Mueller grand jury case urging it to rule "expeditiously" because of the Senate trial.

@BuzzFeed @CNN The Manafort 302 also has an interesting tidbit about why he decided to plead guilty after sizing up the jury pool questionnaire responses before his DC trial. "He thought that between that jury and Judge Jackson, he had no chance at trial," the FBI agent wrote.

1/ In recent days, conservative media sources have seriously discussed the possibility that General Michael Flynn will be permitted to withdraw his guilty plea due to government misconduct. This theory is wildly improbable, to say the least.
2/ This theory appears to have started based a standing order entered by the judge in Flynn's case. A "standing order" is an order entered by the judge in all cases of a particular type. Flynn's judge has a separate order in civil and criminal cases: dcd.uscourts.gov/judge-emmet-g-…
