Schiff’s main assertions are that Trump’s Ukraine aid freeze & investigation demand:

1) Threatened US national security
2) Threatened to undermine the 2020 US election

Both assertions are a transparent joke. Which explains why this impeachment isn’t being taken seriously.
Let’s say Ukraine announces an investigation of Burisma & of Ukrainian meddling in 2016. Do you think that even makes the front page of US newspapers? A far bigger story would be when it gets out that Trump pressured them to do it, which is exactly what’s happened.
We even already have a precedent: in December 2018, a Ukraine court *ruled* — forget announced an investigation — that Ukrainians had meddled in 2016. Did that undermine the 2020 election? Did anyone even care? nytimes.com/2018/12/12/wor…

@RepJeffries This captures just one aspect of why this impeachment is so hypocritical/dumb. The same camp hyperventilating about "foreign interference in our democracy" paid for a fictional foreign dossier that fueled surveillance of a campaign & 3 years of all-consuming conspiracy theories.
@RepJeffries Had Clinton won, would that have undermined the legitimacy of her victory, and, additionally, been impeachable? Under the Dems' (moronic) standard, you would think so. But nope, they argue: it wouldn't... because Clinton paid for it.

Schiff making a huge error. He brings up the Sondland-Yermak convo as evidence of Trump pressuring Ukraine. He cites Morrison's hearsay about the convo. But he ignores what both Sondand & Yermark said! So he's relying on Morrison's hearsay, not what the actual participants said.
Trump's lawyers will exploit this and point out that it's a case of Schiff relying on hearsay instead of the direct participants -- who both reject his characterization of their (brief, in passing) convo. Both Sondland and Yermark deny any ultimatum or quid pro quo was made:
After 3 years of lying to the public about a fake Trump-Russia conspiracy predictably ended in disaster, nobody in the country was more due for a demotion than Adam Schiff. Instead Democrats kicked him upstairs to head an even more serious endeavor: an impeachment trial.

BTW, Schiff made this remark by quoting House Judiciary witness & Stanford professor Pamela Karlan. Here's a refresher:
If you are an adversarial/progressive media outlet covering impeachment, and you're not covering & grappling w/ the Cold War chauvinism underpinning this whole thing, you're not doing it right. We accept MSM to parrot jingoism; it's the job of alternative media to scrutinize it.
