I was there in 2017, but I was very worried.

Anti-racism is not just protesting against the far right.

I was worried that some of those people marching with me against the far right were involved in the #antisemitism crisis engulfing Labour.
And I was worried that the large majority of the others would remain silent when something happened.

Something happened.

Liverpool lost two MPs who resigned from Labour because of institutional antisemitism.
With the exception of ~200 people who signed the #LiverpoolSaysNoToAntisemitism, Liverpool remained silent.

No UAF, no Union, almost no leading politicians making clear their solidarity.

Diagnostics and therapy achieved? These are (very poor) experiments on *cell lines*. The hype is breathtaking.
@psobolewskiPhD That breathtaking hype however is nothing compared to the press release: "Researchers [.] have found tht by using gold nanorods, rather than nanospheres, they can detect malignant tumors hidden deeper under the skin & destroy them with lasers [.] - w/o harming the healthy cells.

The runic symbol (called the 'Odal'/'Othala') represented the "O" sound in Germanic languages before adoption of the Latin alphabet. It's reconstructed proto-Germanic name means "heritage." The far-right adopted this symbol (early 20th cent) to construct a mythic Aryan past. 2/19
The Tyr/Tir rune: another symbol misappropriated by the far-right in their attempt to idealize Nordic &/or Aryan heritage. It represents the letter "T" in the runic alphabet & the symbol also represented the Norse god Tyr, originally steming from proto-indo/euro god Dyeus. 3/19

#THREAD to try to make sense of #Italy’s govt crisis: PM Conte will address the Senate at 15.00CET today. No vote of confidence is scheduled but it could be called by the League UNLESS PM uses the speech to announce his resignation. The latter is the most likely scenario. 1/n
If #Conte resigns Pres Mattarella will hear representatives from all parties & decide whether to: a) let PD/5Stars form a new govt; b) install a caretaker govt to pass the budget; c) call a snap election. Italy hasn’t seen a general election in the fall since 1919. 2/n
The reason for avoiding elections in the fall is the national #budget: deadline for approval is Dec 31. #Italy must send a draft of its 2020 one to @EU_Commission in early Oct. Running a campaign, an election and installing a new govt in the midst of it all is no joke. 3/n

#Thread: Inspired by the CBP Facebook revelations, I decided to take a look at the OUN-B affiliated U.S. Organization for Defense of Four Freedoms of Ukraine (ODFFU) Facebook group, which includes 610 people. In no particular order, here are some profiles that stuck out to me:
Dmytro Zhmailo, spokesman/executive director of Free People, member of Youth Nationalist Congress (MNK), and senior staff for Ukrainian MP Oleh Medunytsia, who himself chaired MNK 2002-2006. Among others, Zhmailo is FB friends with CUN leader S.Bratsiun.
Pavlo Podobied, head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance's Department for the Preservation of Places of Memory, according to Newsweek, has "accused Jews of being the main perpetrators of Soviet crimes against Ukrainians in the 1920s and 1930s." (1/2)
