Strong and wrong beats weak and right. Half measures, not so much.
Specifics of the plan aside I can’t tell u how much I hate the linguistics of “for all who want it.” It’s the kind of language congressional Democrats push a lot. It’s asking for permission from Republicans, having ceded the argument to them.
“Social Security for all who want it.” “Defense from terrorism for all who want it.” “Gravity for all who want it.” It’s like you spent years hearing Republicans say Democrats are taking away choice and this is your response.

They pulled this with my mom when she was wheelchair bound on dialysis and paralyzed in one arm. You have to go to court and fight for it. Which is ridiculous and cruel but that's where we are.
I honestly don’t know what people who don’t have employers who were understanding and flexible like mmfa was with me can do. Time off for doctors appointments, court hearings, just “I have to go sit with my mom” days. I don’t know.
Our country is cruel in ways it doesn’t have to be. And on the right they want to make it worse and some on the left don’t want to push back hard enough. Fuck all of it.

This @JaneMayerNYer story confirms what so many people have reported anecdotally, which is that Fox News has turned conservative but formerly reasonable people into fanatics by feeding them a steady diet of fear and outrage--so essentially mind control. newyorker.com/magazine/2019/…
Incidentally, I've been interviewing cult experts for my new book and several of them have brought up how the dynamic between Fox News and its viewers fits into the mind control/radicalization model, which is incredibly nuanced and extremely misunderstood by the general public.
The problem with this model is that it's actually quite dangerous. Robert Bowers, the Tree of Life shooter, posted on Gab that he had to stop migrant invaders from entering the country and believed the synagogue was assisting this invasion by helping refugees. Sound familiar?
