EDVA (Boente) initiated investigation of Assange in late 2017 and sealed GJ indictment in March 2018.

Simultaneously....

DC DOJ (Liu) finished 2017 investigation of Wolfe and sealed indictment in May 2018.
Between the late 2017 period and the Mid-2018 period, Boente went from EDVA through DOJ-NSD into FBI as chief legal counsel.

As an outcome Boente touched both Assange investigation and Wolfe investigation.
Wolfe indictment was unsealed late July 2018. Wolfe was under control.

DOJ Liu constructed plea deal to hide Wolfe intel leaks, (while Boente was now in FBI as legal counsel). After 2018 mid-term Wolfe sentenced (one count lying to FBI).
Robert Mueller investigation completes March 2019.

Debate over report between Mueller and Barr begins.

On April 11th, 2019, the Julian Assange indictment was finally unsealed in the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA).

Assange is forcibly removed from London Embassy and arrested.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is now under control and the Mueller report is published shortly thereafter.
A prosecution of Wolfe for leaking the Page FISA App would have exposed a complicit conspiracy between corrupt U.S. intelligence actors and the United States senate. (The removal of a sitting president).

The 2018 DOJ plea decision protected multiple U.S. agencies and congress.
Allowing Assange to remain free would have exposed complicity between corrupt U.S. intelligence actors and a host of political interests. Those who created a fraudulent Russia "hacking" the DNC story, and advanced it within the Mueller report.
The Wolfe and Assange investigations, sealed indictments, timed release of those indictments, and subsequent outcomes by the Dept. of Justice, served an identical purpose.

Both risks came under DOJ control.
This is why in hindsight there are multiple clear connections between the two cases including participants from both the FBI and DOJ.

The unique motives of the U.S. Govt. (justice system) behind these two cases speaks to the current issues within the DOJ still surfacing today.
