a lot has been written about the virus, and a few days ago some articles popped up on Reuters, FT etc highlighting a rare corona related "catastrophe-bond" issued by IBRD - the lending arm from the world bank
2/n here is the Reuters article a few days ago when the published death rate crossed the 2000 mark and this bond fell 50%

2/n the supply chain disruption is mostly felt in the flight to US$ vs almost anything else, but last week some previous outliers MXN, JPY, HKD caught up, and KRW got hit of course. here is a 2020 YTD heatmap of FX/US$
3/n core Risk Gauges Bonds, Credit spreads and VIX heatmap: after the initial fear 1st weekend Feb, market sort of shrugged it off, and now we see a 2nd wave. wider credit spreads is more concerning, and a global central bank liquidity / rate cuts are on the cards

China just lowered MLF by 10bps to 3.15% from 3.25% even w/ higher CPI at 5.4% because economic activities are much worse.
While the weather & air in Hong Kong improved, can't say the same about Asian economic data in Q4 '19 (if u think it's bad, wait until Q1 2020)😱🥶. Ready? Japan GDP FELL -6.3% qoq saar on well bad policy of VAT hike & contraction of biz spending. Yes, bad idea to tax consumption

-China is responsible for a significant amount of the global supply chain.
-China already restricting shipments & availability of goods.
-USA allegedly now energy independent.
-China controls significant gold & lithium reserves.
2/ -China is a net importer of oil & gas
-China has been pumping their stock market.
-USA is also pumping their stock market.
-China probably survives #nCoV19 crisis due to massive manufacturing infrastructure.
-USA probably hurts more due to lack of access to China goods.
3/ -Chinese currency might possibly hyperinflate, just like how they misreport the #2019nCoV cases, they have been printing money massively internally & reporting false numbers to the world.
-USD probably survives as world reserve...
-Global depression more likely now than 2019

👉China is already facing biggest bad debts. Its banks r in unbearable stress
👉Sectors of Chinese economy affected due to shutdown: industry, tourism industry, merchant navy, transport, real estate, meat industry, fish products
