People need to understand something. I call it rule #1 when dealing with the left. LEFTISTS aren't CAPITALISTS. You can take this rule and maybe see China's response to the virus differently. We tend to look through our own prisms when viewing events. It's just human nature.
We see China shutting down their entire economy and automatically think it must be really bad but how about if you don't really care about the economy? How about if your main goal is retaining power? Would you sacrifice your economy for a month or so to avoid a prolong epidemic
...that would increase unrest in your population? Would you use the heavy hand of government to quarantine large sections of your country to stop the virus quickly so you can return to "normal" and reduce the amount of unrest and threat to your power?
If the "economy" wasn't a factor would you do things differently? If you didn't care about people's incomes, wealth, or anything except retaining power and if you had the power to do so would you not clamp down as fast and hard as possible to stop a threat to your power?
After all, a virus with a 2% death rate that causes the need for healthcare for 10-20% of the population would cause a major strain on any healthcare system. It could easily cause a central planned system to collapse. What incentive do people have to go to work? what incentive do
...people have to accept misery while their leaders are protected and seemingly immune to the ravages going on in the country? The leaders in China don't derive their power from the people so they don't have to care about keeping the people happy. They just need to worry...
....that the people don't get unhappy enough to start a rebellion. All this is to say that the pictures and actions we saw coming out of China may not have been a snapshot of how bad the virus is but just normal leftist procedure to retain power.
Of course, it also may be that China is underplaying the danger but we now have SK and Italy as real time studies on the ultimate danger of the virus and those countries are handling the virus differently. I'm not saying it's one or the other. I'm just saying....
....never forget rule number one.....LEFTISTS AREN'T CAPITALISTS...and because they aren't, they will act and react differently then how a capitalist country and/or person will on most things. It's always good to see things from as many possible angles as you can.
