I'd note that the EU-Canada deal consists of 1,598 pages of text. So this looks like matching UK games with EU ones. Not exactly reassuring.
I'm not reassured this is a great plan on either side. At best haggling over words might limit the megaphone negotiations, but I'd rather have seen some more consideration of the relationship before going to the legals.
Anyway it seems the EU might have been the first to suggest draft text in which case perfectly reasonable for the UK to respond. I'll stand by my thought that premature text in a trade agreement is not actually a good thing.
