AHS has opened a number of "drive-thru" assessment centres for #COVID19. People are referred to these sites after assessment by a Health Link nurse. Sites are currently open in #YEG and #YYC. More are planned in other areas.
A public health nurse swabs the person through their car window. The person then drives home, self-isolates, and waits for their test result.
These sites are not for the general public, but only for people referred by Health Link. They are safe and fast, keep possibly symptomatic people separate from others, and ensure we can test as many people as possible.

⚠️ AIR TRAVEL UPDATE: The World Health Organization (WHO) had up until 2/17/2020 been confident in its position that restricted air travel is NOT necessary with #COVID, and pointed to the IATA website with their support.

Today, that link no longer exists on IATA.

Instead, the IATA points back to the WHO website, which now has posted an “Aviation Handbook” related to generic infectious diseases from the year 2015.

Granted the policies may still be the same, but it appears LAZY.

As far as I can detect, the WHO is still not recommending any travel restrictions... because, STIGMA.

It’s time for leaders of health agencies to drop the snowflake stance and act like they know what they are doing.

Or admit to the public that they don’t.

#yeg residents can’t get to the grocery store. So instead, the grocery is coming to them.

I’m not talking shop and click. These are honest-to-goodness, pick apples off the cart shops carrying produce at less than supermarket prices.

It’s a concept that’s already taken off in Calgary.

Fresh Routes Calgary now trucks veggies to 60 different locations, partnering with H&W Produce & others.
.@FreshRoutes sets up near seniors homes, affordable housing complexes and low-income neighbourhoods without a grocery store within walking distance.

They work with local community ambassadors to promote the market and add a social component to the weekly gathering.
