1. I wanted to provide an update on my story about @kroger, the nation's largest supermarket chain that does not provide sick leave to all of its employees.

I contacted several Kroger reps days ago and heard nothing.

Then I published my piece...

@kroger 2. Today, I finally heard from one of the people I contacted, Teresa Dickerson. She's the Kroger Corporate Affairs Manager for the Delta Division.

Her email had the subject line: "Inaccurate information regarding Kroger Delta Division"

Here was her message, in full:
@kroger 3. She attached the policy, which I've attached to this tweet.

But here was the problem.

I EXPLICITLY REPORTED ON THAT POLICY IN MY ORIGINAL PIECE.

AND IT IS NOT PAID SICK LEAVE.

@kroger 4. So I emailed Ms Dickerson back and asked her what in my piece was inaccurate.

It's been 4.5 hours since I sent this email and I've gotten no response.

5. So in sum: @kroger, the largest super market in the US, is not providing sick leave to all its employees, putting workers and the public at risk.

In response, they are telling reporters factually accurate info is inaccurate and demanding corrections.

Cut Seven is an amazing DC gym bootstrapped by a local couple. It took them 7 years to start. Then they had to shut down.

Trump just signed what people are calling a $2 trillion stimulus bill (but is actually $6 trillion or more.)

Corporate lobbyists are resourced to take advantage of chaotic situations like this and working people are not.

That's reflected in the substance of this package.
We needed to do something, and this is something.

But the choice wasn't between this and nothing.

Average Americans are getting $1200, which will go fast.

Corporate America is getting a $4 trillion slush fund that can be used at Mnuchin's discretion. Few real checks.
There are some other good things in the package. The unemployment expansion will help people for the next few months.

The small business provision is good if it can be administered properly.

But most of the bulk of the cash will ultimately go to corporations, not people

This fact check also uncovered that Amazon's claim that they are required by the Emergency Assistance Foundation to accept donations from the public was FALSE
In other words, Amazon has been lying to journalists to convince them not to write about this story.

Shares of Gannett are in free-fall territory, down about 50% just today. The nation's largest newspaper chain now has a market cap of under $150 million (and an outstanding high-interest loan of $1.7 billion).
