1/ Hey #innovation #designthinking folks - embarking one of the largest challenges we’ve ever fought as a nation and as a world #COVID19. I know this is disruptive to all of our lives but we need EVERYONE with skills to help pitch in where they can. #TogetherWeCan 
2/Here are few unsolicited ideas that we (healthcare system) will need innovation in, in no particular order, some better than others but here’s immediate braindump :
3/ we have many fabulous folks working already on diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines — if you have those skills and not working on #COVID19, please consider joining forces with others to help them for the next 6-18 mo
4/ We will have a crisis in global PPE (personal protective equipment) - already supply chains are failing as supply will not keep up with demand. Manufacturers are trying but we need new innovative ideas to help!
5/ Idea: maybe an N95 without metal (maybe plastic staples/Nose clamps) that can be quickly sprayed with an aerosol liquid and microwaved for disinfection and reused (this science also needs to be worked out)
6/idea: other battery powered reusable respirators
7/Idea: More disposable gowns out of all sorts of products - plastics, paper, anything… think what can be manufactured and shipped to anywhere in the world?
8/ We have a crisis in ventilators - the numbers are staggering — recent estimates in NYC alone show that the city may be short 15,873 ventilators for the surge….

9/AI systems on ventilators that could optimize in realtime to ARDSnet but also make adjustments without an RT or remotely from a command control (for when RTs get sick)
10/ figure out how to repurpose BIPAP/CPAP machines
11/Low cost Oxygen concentrators to keep people at home, out of hospital
12/Telehealth services WITHIN the hospital to allow as few HCWs into the rooms of COVID suspects (to conserve workforce and PPE) - use iPads/Carts/ allow remote ICUs and remote Floor management from centralized facilities
13/ Rapid cleaning/disinfection of rooms - cheaper quicker UV machines
14/ Robot/roomba like machines that can autonomously go into Hospital rooms and disinfect
15/ Robots that pick up bins for waste to take to Incinerators
16/ Tablet/Ipad systems to allow family members to stay connected to quarantined family members in hospital
17/ any systems that support hospital wifi infrastructure from becoming demand overwhelmed
19/ toilets in hospitals with bidets (i.e. toto toilets) for ambulatory patients, to save toilet paper resources?
20/ AI systems that can at presentation quickly assess risk for early respiratory decompensation, need for ICU or Mech Ventilation
21/ new containment systems for NIPPV (CPAP/BIPAP) perhaps hoods on top of a mask that prevent aerosolization and increase risk of spread to HCWs
20/ very inexpensive connected O2 sat probes and thermometers with Telehealth systems
21/ this is just a thought exercise, please RT or add to the thread. #designers #builders #makers Unite online, use @slack and start solving problems for us HCW!! We desperately need to #innovate solution and FAST...
22/ and new ways to manufacture viral transport medium...
