Here is how Trump's particular leadership, how his particular control of the federal government instead of someone else, is costing America lives and treasure. 1st, and most imp, he bungled the early response, by refusing the international tests at least in part bc he wanted to 
maintain an illusion, in an effect to prevent a politically damaging downturn in the stock market, that the U.S. was going to somehow avoid infection bc of shutting down travel to and from China. But even worse, even after it became clear it was here, Trump, as the sole decider,
refused to take decisive action to ramp up U.S. testing capacity. Even after it became clear that was the ONLY way to prevent massive spread and massive economic disruptions, bc that's what the experts were telling him, but since Trump considers himself an expert on everything,
often decides on positions on topics no actual experts support, he continued to deemphasize the importance of testing FOR WEEKS, even as the media hammered him w questions about it, repeating the LIE that we had millions of tests and that anyone could have one, when we DID NOT in
his press conferences, which the media continues to live stream w/o fact checks. And he is doing the same thing now. Even as the hosiptals and frontline med clinics are reporting they are completely OUT OF masks and protective gear, Trump holds a presser and LIES to the public
just makes up that we have "millions" of masks and they are already available. He did this to justify his UNILATERAL decision not to invoke the domestic productions act so that the government can force prevent companies into the production of medical equipment we need to prevent
infections, and just as importantly, the VENTILATORS, that the lack of, the shortage of, will, at some point lead to rationed use and death sentences for people that can't breath on their own. Trump has also, as the man completely in charge of the crisis, as the "decider" refused
to active the Army Corps of Engineer to start increasing our limited hospital bed supply. BC we do not currently have enough hospital capacity to weather this virus. We have lost weeks of building potential due to Trump's inaction here. BC the fed gov's response is dictated by
Trump, and Trump has decided to "lead from behind" forcing state governors to go it alone in trying to save the lives of their citizens, it absolutely DOES matter who the president is, and different president would absolutely be making different decisions- because Trump is not
capable of managing this level of crisis, especially not one that is complex and multidimensional. And more people are dying due to the decisions he is (or really, not) making. Already.
