1/18: Azar (DHHS) calls Trump. This is the latest date Trump could've first heard about the virus.

PS/ Why did it take Azar 15 days to get to Trump? Apparently Trump's aides were inexplicably blocking Azar from talking to Trump about coronavirus, which means they wanted to delay the *political* clock on something Trump would've *already known about* (at *least*) from the NSC.
PS2/ I don't think there's any way Trump heard about the virus any later than 1/4, a day after the NSC. But then there's the fact the crisis began—and WHO was told of it—in December, and Putin, a top Xi ally, called Trump on 12/29 in a call the White House *hid from U.S. media*.
PS3/ IOW, there's reason to believe that the inevitable eventual Coronavirus Commission convened by Congress will discover Trump sat on his knowledge of coronavirus for at least a month, and was lying about the virus through mid-March, 75+ days after he learned of its deadliness.

I want to make an esoteric but important point: if America had treated the LAW like it does MEDICINE—a discipline in which facts exist, experts exist, and standards are measurable—the whole country would have come around on Trump's *law-breaking* the way it is now on coronavirus.
What we did, instead, was treat LAW like POLITICS—a matter of opinion in which even someone with no legal degree, no legal experience, and no legal temperament should be treated with the same deference as the *thousands* of former federal prosecutors who said Trump broke the law.
At the start of the coronavirus epidemic, Republicans chose to treat MEDICINE like POLITICS. Then folks started getting infected in the tens of thousands and started dying in the hundreds—soon, thousands. Suddenly Republicans were willing to acknowledge that MEDICINE is MEDICINE.

(MORTALITY RATE) Mortality rate is determined by closed cases—of which we now have 112,173. The global rate has been rising—5% to 13%—for weeks, as more folks are tested. It may eventually decline again—but my source is the same as that used by THE WASHINGTON POST (Worldometers).
PS/ I am—to put it mildly—sick and tired of being lectured by those who don't know how mortality rate is calculated that the 13% figure is "wrong." It is—of course—*not final*, but it's *not* wrong, no matter how much you wish it to be. So commenters here need to slow their roll.
PS2/ As millions and millions *more* people have been tested, the mortality rate has *risen* dramatically—so don't come on the feed and assure folks the mortality rate will drop with more testing. It certainly *may*—perhaps even "likely will"—but we don't have evidence of it yet.

Just so you understand why those on the right aren't blaming Trump for anything: the memes they're sending around on Twitter include a fake timeline of events, fake recitations of things no Democrat ever said or tweeted, and an entire alternate reality in which Trump is the hero.
PS/ I have said it before: a big chunk of America is lost—at least for now. They've created an echo chamber of lies we simply don't have the time or energy or resources (or responsibility) to extract them from. Americans who still live on Earth Prime are going to have to save us.
PS2/ I just saw a right-wing meme that's a purported "timeline" of events in which all the dates are made up, all the statements attributed to Democrats are made up, all the actually key events are left out.... we who live on Earth Prime *can't fix this*. These people are *lost*.

After I wake up I take a hot shower to keep the virus at bay, no longer masculine since I cannot take cold showers.

I stumble over my crate of alphagetti, my foot already feels the first suffering of this horrible virus.

Through my high speed internet connection I see the horrors of the virus third hand.

Videos of people at the bar which some anonymous asshole tells me are millennials laughing at the virus, no one holds a newspaper with todays date.

1 can of alphagetti (945/947 remain) in the microwave. I was so busy crushing it I never learned how the stovetop worked, it's probably a liberal conspiracy to take my taxes
