(*adapted from a chapter by @DrIsaacsRussell & @ToddEssig, "Bodies and Screen Relations")
1️⃣ Privacy is crucial. Make certain you're in a private space where you will no be heard or interrupted. Any doubt
2️⃣Sit in a comfortable chair. Do not lay down or recline on furniture. Arrange yourself as you would if you were meeting in person in the office.
3️⃣Dress as you would if you were meeting in person. Your therapist may not be able
4️⃣Keep a box of tissues nearby. Pour a glass of water or other beverage if you want, but do not eat or snack during your session.
5️⃣Turn of all devices other than the one you are using
6️⃣ Don't jump immediately from another activity into your session. Leave yourself a 10-15 min "buffer" before your session to clear your head & mentally prepare, & 10-15 min after to process & absorb. If possible, take a walk outside
7️⃣Location matters. When possible, try to meet from the same location each time.
Thanks to @DrIsaacsRussell @ @ToddEssig developing these guidelines.
