In the trial of the #Metoo defamation case against @LeenaManimekali, today is the second day of cross examination of director Susi Ganesan. The case is yet to be called. Silverscreen will live-tweet the proceedings in the court.

Please do not create panic and avoid naming #coronavirus patients. There are many respiratory viruses and pathogens which affect people throughout the year. #Covid19 is one of the viruses circulating at the moment. It causes mild infection in a large majority of cases. #Pakistan
Everyone please follow simple measures like keeping hands clean and keeping them away from face, nose and lips, avoiding crowded places are important. Wearing a regular surgical mask is useful provided one avoids the urge of touching and adjusting it frequently. #coronavirus

A THREAD ABOUT #COVID19 (#coronavirus) -
COVID-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) because of how genetically similar it is to the SARS virus from 2002.
To compare to other coronaviruses in recent history:

SARS 2002 had a much higher mortality rate of 9.6% (8,089 total cases / 774 deaths)
MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) from 2012 had a mortality rate of 34% (2494 total cases / 858 deaths)
Ebola, a recent outbreak that was not due to a coronavirus strain of virus, had a whopping mortality rate of about 40%, with 28,639 confirmed cases with 11,316 deaths.

COVID-19 so far has 75,204 confirmed cases according to WHO's sitrep on 20/2/2020 with 2009 deaths

First check to see if they bothered to add any variability whatsoever in the model they are using to supposedly report actual numbers from a complex system.

The mortality rate they want you to report is the - 0 day rate: Today's Confirmed Death total minus Today's Confirmed Case total.

This has not varied outside of 1/10th of 1% in the last 5 prints.

But even a minor adjustment of a few days in the mortality rate paints an entirely different picture
