Saudi state-operated Twitter account says: "God chose the last Prophet to be from the Arabian Peninsula because its people are wise, unlike you [Palestinians], the people of dabkeh and false bravado".
Reminder that while the Prophet was indeed an Arab, he staunchly rejected tribalism, racism and supremacism; he called it "ignorance" (jahiliyya) and described it as "rotten". Some of his closest and earliest followers included Persians, Romans, and Black Africans.
Also reminder that most of those who opposed and oppressed the Prophet and tortured his followers were very, very Arab. The Qur'an even has an entire chapter (sura) dedicated to harshly calling out the Prophet's own uncle, Abu Lahab.

A serious and worrying side effect of the heavy-handed methods employed by authoritarian governments against #COVID19: People scared to report their symptoms, because if they do, they may be taken away to quarantine and their entire village may come under lockdown.
Even worse, residents in some areas are expelling people who show symptoms or think about reporting their symptoms, afraid of what that will mean for the entire village or neighborhood. Some poor regions cannot afford lockdowns.
But please let me hear from the morons who insist that autocracies are better at handling pandemics.

It is human nature that the oppressed will hate their oppressors and seek revenge. Colonialism exploits this all too human tendency to argue that the colonized are violent savages unfit for self rule, and should therefore be denied agency and treated as subhumans.
Colonialism involves massive, undiscriminating violence; the violence of the colonizer is legitimized, meanwhile the counter-violence of the colonized is called terrorism is used as pretext to deepen the colonial venture.
Violent resistance is absolutely understandable, and self defense is a human right, but violent resistance can be easily exploited by the colonizers to strengthen the very narrative of colonialism that we're trying to shake off. This is another argument for nonviolence.

Remember that countries that do not test for COVID-19 (or that only test advanced cases) will report lower confirmed cases.
Remember that a patient who dies of pneumonia without having been tested for COVID-19 is a COVID-19 death that doesn't make it to the official register.

This does not surprise me. After I helped Rahaf in January, I was on receiving end of sustained 6-week avalanche of attack by what I am convinced were #Saudi state-backed info-ops. Death threats, slut-shaming, racism, my face photoshopped onto the body of an adult film actor, etc

Twitter seems to be banning or suspending accounts belonging to critics of the Chinese government. It started yesterday May 31th. Here is one report - I noticed a sudden loss of followers yesterday, I checked, it was mainly China critics. Twitter❤️🇨🇳 Amazing! @mouse @1GigiSims
This is happening as an effort to silence #China critics ahead of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, which is next Tuesday. Twitter is helping China do its dirty work to silence the legitimate opposition. Twitter has hit a new all time low! 👎👎👎
One other possibility that can't be discounted is that the #Chinese government is hacking into Twitter and is deleting the accounts of Chinese critics. I did hear reports in the past, that Chinese hackers were able to get into Twitter & do that.
