Break the silence. It can be shameful to feel like a fraud.
Right the rules. Recognize that you have just as much right as the others to have an off-day.
Develop a new Script. "I will learn from them" vs "I'm not smart."
Separate feelings from facts. It's ok to feel inadequate. This does NOT mean that you are inadequate.
Recognize when you should feel fraudulent.
"If no one else in the room looks like you, recognize that it might be a normal response to feel like you don't fit in."
Develop a new response to failure.
Fake it 'til you make it. While "you're winging it" is a proof of ineptness. Don't wait until you feel confident to start putting yourself out there.
Activating event. Identify events that are upsetting.
Beliefs. Core beliefs attached to the event.
Consequences. negative Feeling
Dispute beliefs. Challenge core belief.
Effective new beliefs. Interrupt cycle with new, more positive reactions.
Our Group 7 scholars are crushing it! Discussion about Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy reminds me of the key elements of #mindfulness and #selfcompassion.

As program directors, share our own struggles without burdening learners. At the right dose at the right time, it'll open the conversation for others to feel heard and seen.
