I did not understand why you specifically tweeted on this study? Because there is more you could have tweeted on the same.
Example, simple walking, independent of other forms of physical activity is ALSO associated wit reduction in systemic inflammation. bit.ly/38Az1UZ
3
Which means, people don't have 2 SPEND money on 'YOGA GURUS' or join 'Yoga based' clubs or PAY 4 'YOGA' classes when same effect is noticeable with - yes, money free, hassle free, walking. There is also a systematic review on it bit.ly/3pqUab7. But U did not #tweet it?
4
Let alone walking, simple exercise reduce inflammatory markers much better in patients wit diabetes. Please C this bit.ly/3mUJ7oO from American Diabetes Assoc. @ADA_Journals. Fact is ANY type of physical activity improves inflammation is well known - YOGA or NOT.
5
Coming back to your original tweet and study, bit.ly/38GaPRh, I am not sure if you hav critiqued it be4 it was tweeted, or maybe the Indian #government hinted you to do so, for extra brownie points on promotion of their already run amok #quackery in the form of #ayush

The study in question, by Viswanathan et al on Yoga & diabetes is very poorly designed. For starters, they used 'clinically un-utilized' & 'generally unavailable' markers as a primary end point, wit measly 12 weeks follow up. This is unacceptable in chronic metabolic condition.
7
In diabetes study, 1 shud NOT use surrogate/composite end points. This wud lead 2 misinterpretation of results (like UR tweet) & promotion of misleading therapies 4 patients who ACTUALLY require proper evidence based care
Plz C: cutt.ly/ah4hp4L, cutt.ly/Oh4hdrx
8 cutt.ly/Xh4hgMh - this paper specifically mentions when 2 use a surrogate marker 4 Diabetes studies & RCTs. The authors of the Yoga study did not do their homework on methodology well. Also, actual end points: end organ damage, glycemic status - none assessed.
9
Authors dint discuss weaknesses, confounders. RCT doesn't mean quality -as #scientists we must ensure BALANCE in interpretation of results 4 public
Plz C cutt.ly/ih4hJMA - RCT showed videogaming improved outcomes in asthmatic children. Shud V promot gaming as adjuvant?

Ok this is interesting #livertwitter#MedTwitter

Deep dive into history again - says she's taking #vitamins for weight loss! Asked to show👇

Hello Abdur! Ashwagandhadi lehyam is made out of
1.Aswagandha (Withania somnifera)
2.Masha (Phaseolus mungo)
3.Musli (Curculigo orchiodes)
Ther is more
It is prescribed as per ancient #Ayurveda texts for stamina, muscle building, increased sexual desire/prolonging sexual vigor.
1
BUT, no clinical studies on humans with a good control of another standard drug has been performed on the use of Ashwagandhadi lehyam. Which means, its use in current situations is more or less a gamble with #pseudoscience or #quackery. This gamble cud lead 2 side effects
2
Previously, XTRA MUSLI POWER herbal caps were banned by Kerala Government becoz manufacturer (Kunnath Pharma) used modern medicine (tadalafil) in the herbal product. A lot of the products with pure herbs may not be safe or effective and can B adulterated cutt.ly/Dh12ioK

Result: some potential, nothing definite because it is never compared with a standard drug. I dont know Y complementary and alternative medicines R always compared with placebo when there are other better standards 2 compare them with! #livertwitter
