Ok this is interesting #livertwitter#MedTwitter
26 yr old woman with jaundice+severe itching (a.k.a cholestatic hepatitis). Routine causes - viruses, prescription drugs, autoimmune liver disease blood tests - neg. No #ayurveda or #herbal drug use. Mysterious🤔
Liver biopsy👇
2 #pathology expert says its #drug induced liver injury. But patient denies any drug use. She has #PCOD - polycystic ovarian disease (mayocl.in/34S2LMh) and hence, #overweight.
Deep dive into history again - says she's taking #vitamins for weight loss! Asked to show👇

Some #doctors give 4 weight loss, but is actually not #EvidenceBasedMedicine. Better to stay away from unnecessary supplementation.
Chromium picolinate can cause severe liver injury bit.ly/2WSIeme, also cause many toxic effects bit.ly/3pAP9wv
5/5 Final diagnosis:
Drug induced liver injury probably due to excessive use of chromium picolinate due to unwarranted #dietary#supplements #pseudoscience#diet#medicine

I followed @FitTuber advise and got all these #Ayurveda medicines which he outright claimed are '#safer', ''#effective' than conventional prescription drugs for day to day use. These will be tested for #safety first - will undergo GCMSMS, ICP-OES and FTIR analyses. #MedTwitter

I looked at packaging and found interesting (poor regulation, absurdity), #quackery, #pseudoscience based descriptions like this:
Malaria - caused by parasite
Dengue - caused by virus
Typhoid - caused by bacteria.
One tablet to rule them all. Reminds me of lord of the rings.

This particular #ayurvedic tablet is good for indigestion, hyperacidity and THEN - like a @starwars hyperspace jump 🤯SCABIES🤯. How? Why? What is the mode of action within this very broad range of 'symptoms to disease'. You know this medicine is #fraud.
Also check out 'etc'🙅♂️

I did not understand why you specifically tweeted on this study? Because there is more you could have tweeted on the same.
Example, simple walking, independent of other forms of physical activity is ALSO associated wit reduction in systemic inflammation. bit.ly/38Az1UZ

Which means, people don't have 2 SPEND money on 'YOGA GURUS' or join 'Yoga based' clubs or PAY 4 'YOGA' classes when same effect is noticeable with - yes, money free, hassle free, walking. There is also a systematic review on it bit.ly/3pqUab7. But U did not #tweet it?

Hello Abdur! Ashwagandhadi lehyam is made out of
1.Aswagandha (Withania somnifera)
2.Masha (Phaseolus mungo)
3.Musli (Curculigo orchiodes)
Ther is more
It is prescribed as per ancient #Ayurveda texts for stamina, muscle building, increased sexual desire/prolonging sexual vigor.
1
BUT, no clinical studies on humans with a good control of another standard drug has been performed on the use of Ashwagandhadi lehyam. Which means, its use in current situations is more or less a gamble with #pseudoscience or #quackery. This gamble cud lead 2 side effects

Previously, XTRA MUSLI POWER herbal caps were banned by Kerala Government becoz manufacturer (Kunnath Pharma) used modern medicine (tadalafil) in the herbal product. A lot of the products with pure herbs may not be safe or effective and can B adulterated cutt.ly/Dh12ioK
