#Hezbollah (a proxy militia) controls #Lebanon policy, and #Kuwait politics are dominated by extremists & populists. I remember visiting Kuwait's Ministry of Information when Schindler's List was released to speak to officials about the ban in Kuwait. The lady official I spoke /2
..with did not offer a compelling argument for the ban except repeatedly referring to the "principles," even though the film story was irrelevant to Mideast politics and focused on genocide in Europe. Luckily, the region has moved on but pockets of extreme views persist. /3

#Pakistan Army chief #COAS was at #Panjgur today, a district adjoining #Iran border where terrorists mounted a sophisticated attack on Feb 2. He visited the battle site and reviewed preparations "to fail hostile efforts to destabilize #Balochistan." /1

#Pakistan's military releases first official statement on a terrorist attack in #Kech bordering #Iran & close to #Afghanistan that resulted in 10 soldiers and 1 terrorist killed, several attackers injured. 3 terrorists have been captured after an intense battle. /1
The attack occurred on the night of 25/26 Jan 2022. Terrorists attacked a security post of a paramilitary followed by "intense exchange of fire," according to a #Pakistan military statement. A clearance op is still underway around #Kech, a #Balochistan district bordering #Iran /2
Capturing of terrorists alive is a breakthrough that can assist in intelligence gathering but the high casualty figure in the latest attack caps a rising wave of terror attacks mainly along #Pakistan's border regions with #Afghanistan and #Iran that have picked since 2020. /3
