Folks, I honestly do not care if you served in the military or not.

It was the right decision for me, but it's not for everybody.

I don't think any more or any less of any citizen based solely on their veteran status.
1/
A being a veteran doesn't automatically make you a better citizen. Or a worse one.

I know many, many vets who are worthy of respect. Admirable. Heroes even.

But I know many who are complete shitheads and that I wouldn't trust to hold my hat while I took a piss.
2/
There are many ways to serve your country.

But the point here is that service, in whatever form, ISN'T REQUIRED.

Freedom means exactly that. You're free to serve in whatever fashion you choose. OR NOT.
3/
If you truly believe in freedom, then you have to acknowledge that others may use their freedom to do things that you don't approve of.

So long as those things are legal, then freedom means you can pack sand because you don't get to tell other people how to do freedom.

Which brings us back 'round to my comment regarding Eric Trump's tweet

Here's my problem:

First, the fertilization of the military by those on the right, particularly those who didn't serve themselves.
/5
2. The ongoing push by those same people (see #1), to make EVERY FUCKING THING into a chance to flog others about the military. I.e. CHRISTMAS isn't about honoring veterans. And it irritates me that Eric Trump of all people is trying to make it so.

3. I don't need your thanks or your prayers. If you want to offer them, sincerely, that's up to you, Citizen. But you shouldn't be compelled by some politician's smarmy kid, or because it's all of a sudden politically in vogue to do so.

4. Eric Trump couldn't even get off his skinny white ass long enough to have his chauffeur drive him over to Arlington to take an actual picture of his own. But he wants to guilt YOU into saying a prayer for fallen vets.

Fuck him and the limo he rode in on.

8/
Brass tacks: Don't use my service, or the service of others, to push your goddamned agenda.

If you served, you can use your service. But not anybody else's.

And if you didn't, then shut the fuck up and let others either offer up respect or not as they choose.

Addendum:

I should have known. Folks, you can only pack so much into Twitter, even if in you thread it
