Poor and middle class Iranian families are paying 30-40% interest on what are essentially microloans because thats all they're allowed to take out, and THAT is to cover for the banks giving out millions of dollars in loans to senior officials/connected elite that aren't paid back
The majority of the protesters are young people, under 30, just like most of Iran's population, who are tired of not having jobs, not having a future, and never being able to get ahead in life because their economy went to shit.
The sanctions are in place and more should be added on because look up the Quds Force. Look up Hezbollah's activities in the US alone. Hamas. Taliban. Al Qaeda. Fuck, apparently Iran was ultimately one of the players behind 9/11
