1) @ThomasWictor makes the usual fair point in response to this, but if you'll allow a drunken twitter asshole to interject, there is a REASON Trump wins are covert wins.
2) Because Trump can't win openly. He can't win 'normally'.
3) We've been conditioned for 8 years to expect the President to win openly with the media singing his praises with feel-good goals and bills towards those feel-good goals
4) We got told that was 'normal'
5) For 8 years before THAT, we had a Republican President who by the end of his term couldn't get a win. Everything was against him. Nothing worked. All told to us by the press
6) Same press, two different presidents, one couldn't stop losing even when he won, the other couldn't stop winning even when the country crumbled around him
7) So how does one win in an environment where the arbiters of 'normalcy' will not let you win? You ignore them, distract them, subvert them, and then win anyways.
8) The right, conservatives, moderates, we didn't invent the term Fake News. Did you remember that?
9) Newspapers, left-controlled social media, news channels, THEY invented the term Fake News to deligitimize anything that wasnt them
10) They started by labeling Macedonian facebook article farms 'Fake News', then expanded it to anyone that wasn't themselves
11) We stole that. We took it from them. Then Trump started calling them Fake News, and we LOVED HIM FOR IT. So he did it more.
12) Bannon got one thing right. The media is the opposition party. But they're bigger. They control more of the social conscience. They control comics and video games and sports broadcasting.
13) So when we win, it is by definition covert. When we REALLY need to put the hurting on someone, it needs to be in a way they don't see coming.
14) The covert winning isn't going to stop. But the country is transforming. I just got a huge raise at work. I'm sure others will have by now as well, and more in the future.
15) The ultimate strategy, the key to any victory, I have found in my various attempts at winning, is that in the end, only the last bit matters. The last bits of life in a video game. The last model standing in a tabletop wargame. The last inches of a race.
16) What's Trumps last bit? 2020. That is what matters. He will find a way to keep fighting, to stay in the game, no matter HOW 2018 goes. But 2020 is what matters.
17) So he is, as @thomaswictor would say, is preparing the battlefield. With 'covert wins'. When we wake up in 2020, we won't even be able to RECOGNIZE the world. And Trump will say, "I did this in 4 years. See what I can do in 8." And the media will have fuck all to say to that.
