This is Trump’s Republican Party: Chaos, incompetence, and destruction. This is about basic governance, and the GOP has repeatedly shown they cannot govern. 8/
Trump’s own Defense Department has said that passing a CR is “wasteful and destructive” and that our military will face ramifications without a fully funded budget. 9/
The GOP’s incompetence hurts veterans, Dreamers, people suffering from the opioid crisis, and communities in Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico, and California that are still recovering from disasters – just to name a few. 10/
Democrats want a deal. We have negotiated in good faith. We have put forward a bipartisan agreement, but Trump blew it up and refused to work towards a deal. 11/
Republicans like Lindsey Graham and others have even said that Democrats are negotiating while Trump is the one standing in the way of a deal. 12/
We call on the GOP to come to the negotiating table and work with Democrats to support veterans, make real investments in the fight against opioids, fund CHIP and Community Health Centers, save Americans’ pensions, and protect Dreamers. Don’t shut down the government. 13/13
