THIS is the story you need to understand before the IG report comes out. And check Trump's tweets from October 23 and October 24: it's clear he was getting regular updates on the illegal FBI leaks his pal Joe DiGenova was helping to facilitate—and which cost Clinton the election.
2/ (No kidding, I retweeted this thread not knowing about today's NYT story—that was a coincidence. But the NYT breaking news confirms my allegation that Trump and DiGenova were connected pre-election, that Prince was involved in all of this—a DiGenova-Toensing client—and more.)
3/ Erik Prince lied to Breitbart on the sourcing for his pre-election Clinton hoax, which was clearly FBI. He then shut down his Congressional testimony when asked about it. Now we find DiGenova repped both Prince and the FBI leakers.

Can we investigate DiGenova and Prince now?

(THREAD) Yesterday's NBC reporting about Rod Rosenstein's impending departure from DOJ, and what it may mean for the Mueller investigation, already seems to be coming apart at the seams. In this thread I take a look at why yesterday's breaking news was neither breaking nor news.
1/ First, here's the NBC News report from Pete Williams—a talented journalist. (What he's not—as far as I know—is an attorney or an expert on the Trump-Russia probe, and, like many journalists, has been using dubious sources to get info on Mueller's work.) nbcnews.com/politics/justi…
2/ Williams' lede: "Rosenstein plans to step down after Mueller finishes his work." But in the fourth graf, he obliterates that lede: "But others familiar with his thinking said there’s no firm timeline and Rosenstein would work out a departure plan once the new AG is confirmed."

Per CNN reporting just now, William Barr before today told the White House that he would be bringing in his own Deputy Attorney General if confirmed, so the news that Rosenstein will step down if Barr if confirmed should not have led to *any* of the hysteria it seems like it has.
2/ Rosenstein previously said he'd serve two years—so his departure around now isn't surprising anyway, and (in fact) will make it easier for him to coordinate with Mueller as a witness rather than a supervisor. Too many people are reading way too much into his pending departure.
3/ I'll go further: Rosenstein is friendly with Barr, used to work with him, and recommended him for the Attorney General spot—all of which indicates that his comfort level with Barr taking over the Mueller probe has *nothing* to do with an assessment of when that probe will end.

@ZevShalev @TheAtlantic 3/ A reasonable conclusion: after he and Flynn left the room the CIA briefed them in on August 17, 2016, Trump realized that it was entirely possible Manafort's contacts with the Russians had been picked up by American intelligence, and he could therefore no longer work with him.

Before everyone freaks out over Cohen they should wait to see the statement of offense on what he actually lied about. The underlying conduct was probably not even a crime and far from proving Collusion.
Secondly, after the IG Report comes out, President Trump is going to have good cause to pardon nearly everyone involved in this mess.
Finally, Michael Cohen had 183 tapes of journalists. If you think for a moment that he’s not looking for payback on Democrats that caused this mess, you have another thing coming.

#Trump's last campaign rally of the 2018 mid-term election season is scheduled to start in about ten minutes. It's his THIRD rally of the day. Dude is likely exhausted and I doubt this rally will be less "speech" and more "incoherent tirade".

I’m calling it now: no matter what the DOJ IG report actually says, President Trump’s sycophantic supporters will try to claim that somehow he is the victim of FBI wrongdoing&bias. Talk about fake news.

I just saw a Trumplander say that signing the spending bill is the lowest moment of Trump's presidency. It's technically true because he's plummeting off a cliff. Every moment of it is the lowest moment so far.
There's an interesting thing you can observe if you're watching Trumplandia at the moment that he does something disappointing to them, when he backs off, back down, caves, or changes his mind on something they had been trumpeting.
That is, if you're looking very closely and very carefully, you can see the disappointment. You can watch the natural reaction in the wild, in realtime. Before the ~*thought leaders*~ and the botnets spin up, before the cognitive dissonance comes online.
