🔴 In der Nacht zum Donnerstag retteten #SeaEye und @SEENOTRETTUNG über 4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Menschen aus einem doppelstöckigen Holzboot. Als die #RISEABOVE bei dem Boot eintraf, war bereits ein Leck im Boot, durch das Wasser eindrang. 1/4
Mehrere Menschen waren ohne Schwimmweste im Wasser und mussten aus dem Meer gerettet werden. Die vollständige Evakuierung des Holzboots auf die #SEAEYE4 war erst nach Mitternacht abgeschlossen. Eine Person konnte noch auf dem Weg zur SEA-EYE 4 erfolgreich reanimiert werden. 2/4

@alarm_phone hatte die Behörden & uns über den Seenotfall informiert. Wenige Stunden später fand Seabird das Boot neben dem Handelsschiff und der Ölplattform Bouri.

@alarm_phone #Seabird umkreiste das Boot über mehrere Stunden bis spät in den Abend & war immer wieder in Kontakt mit dem Handelsschiff & der Ölplattform. Der Kapitän der #Asso29 leugnete, dass es sich um einen Seenotfall handelt. Unsere Crew konnte ihn dann aber doch zur Rettung überzeugen.
@alarm_phone Auch die sog. Libysche Küstenwache war auf dem Weg zu dem Boot & hätte die Menschen wohl nach Libyen zurückgeschleppt, wenn unsere #Seabird-Crew nicht die #Asso29 dazu gebracht hätte, das Boot rechtzeitig zu retten.

Siamo finalmente riusciti a parlare con la c.d. guardia costiera libica che abbiamo informato alle 1.15 di notte. Dicono di essere al corrente del caso ma di non aver mandato soccorsi.

We finally managed to talk to the so-called Libyan Coastguard, who we informed at 1.15am. They said they are aware of the case but no rescue has been sent.
We are still in contact with the people in distress who are in panic with no water and food & little hope for rescue!

The people are drifting and it is getting dark at sea. The vessels #ValleDeNervion and #PingHaiWan are close to the boat in distress. RCC #Malta refuses to provide information if a rescue has been launched or not. We hope they won't have to try to survive the night out at sea.

The ~85 people survived the night in distress in Malta SAR zone. The vessel Contship Ray found the boat, but they are not rescuing. The people are in panic & urgently ask for water & rescue. @Armed_Forces_MT, don't delay the rescue or order vessel #ContshipRay to rescue!
After the merchant vessel denied rescue, the ~85 people on this boat in distress managed to bravely continue towards #Lampedusa, and we believe they reached the Italian island yesterday.

Il video non mostra lo sbarco che nessuno ha potuto impedire perché la barca con i migranti era già oramai a pochi metti dalla costa . E perché nessuno può impedire ad una barca carica di persone di entrare a meno che non gli sparino addosso finendo incriminato per omicidio. 👇🏽

Yesterday, Alarm Phone was alerted by a boat in distress after they had left from Libya. Our phone connection was bad. We were not able to gather all needed information and could not verify their position beyond doubt. Authorities are informed.

A relative got in touch with #AlarmPhone & provided the position of the boat in distress. According to the position received, it should be a few nautical miles from the Italian SAR zone. The people in distress told us that their engine is not working & water is entering the boat!
We are glad that at 12.39 CEST #MoonBird spotted the wooden boat that is in contact with #AlarmPhone, and was able to confirm its position South of #Lampedusa (35d07N, 012d27E) & that the boat is adrift. @guardiacostiera & @Armed_Forces_MT - the 57 people need rescue now!
🆘! Questa sera una barca in pericolo con circa 30 persone a bordo inclusi bambini, ci ha contattato dalla zona SAR maltese, a circa 30 miglia nautiche da Lampedusa. Sono fuggiti dalla Libia. Vanno soccorsi immediatamente! Non hanno giubbotti di salvataggio ed è buio in mare.
Abbiamo perso contatti con le persone in pericolo dalle 19:34. Le autorità in #Italia e #Malta rifiutano di fornire info. Temiamo che la barca sia in avaria e che venga lasciata in condizioni di pericolo tutta la notte. Il soccorso è un dovere @guardiacostiera e @Armed_Forces_MT!
