The study was based on an analysis of almost 70M Wordle games: >53M simulated games (using a simulator designed to simulate realistic, not optimal, human gameplay) & >15M real games shared on Twitter. The simulated gameplay matches real gameplay in several important respects. 3\n

A few people have suggested the maximum number of guesses is 6, but I think you can always do it in 5! (Five, not five factorial.)
First three guesses: 123, 456, 789.
Three hits and you're at most two guesses away by cycling.
Two hits, and a strategically chosen fourth guess involving a hit repeated twice and a 0 will get you there in 5.
Same for one hit.
Zero hits and it's 000.

1/3 #Wordle should be a great test for @RupertSheldrake’s controversial (but appealing) theory of morphic resonance, which predicts that puzzles should get easier to do once a critical mass of human minds have solved them…
2/3 If he’s right, and enough ppl are doing #Wordle, then each puzzle should get easier (ie fewer attempts) as the day goes on. And, given time zones, it should be easier for us in UK than it is for US players. And New Yorkers should be better at it than Los Angelinos… Discuss!

I posted a comment earlier about #covid19 #vaccines, #SterilisingImmunity and emergence of #variants and it's been pointed out to me (@bealelab @SwaledaleMutton et al.) that some of the points, well the header really, isn't factually correct and/or could be used mischievously.
Therefore I will append a clarification that my comments were able the status quo and covid vaccines alone and any other points I thought relevant to ensure my musing can't be misconstrued. The overall point about global vaccine inequities and emergence of variants remains, but
My comments hopefully can't be taken out of context and used nefariously by others with an anti-vaaxx agenda or similar. I have always been and remain a staunch believe proponent for vaccines. However, we need to understand what they do.

So step 1 is to open the dev tools. In the sources tab, you can see that there's two files: our website index.html file, and a main.e65ce0a5.js file. The latter contains all the code that makes the game run.
