I rarely speak on this because it’s such a touchy subject but I’m about to becauuuuuse I didn’t reprogram my brain back out of clinical depression just to keep this knowledge to myself 🤷🏽‍♀️

THREAD: a metaphysical view on mental illness
Lets start out this talk with a disclaimer: I speak on this as someone who was once diagnosed as clinically depressed with manic tendencies and anxiety disorder, BY A PSYCHIATRIST. I was on escitalopram and venlafaxin for about a year, and my mother also suffered depression
I am EXTREMELY familiar with mental illness both from the outside and first hand perspective, having sought treatment through all the “appropriate” channels, so this isn’t just some hippie granola bullshit about how love and light will heal all lol.
I feel like my stance on this is pretty split down the middle because PERSONALLY I don’t think I could have gotten better if I hadn’t had medication at first. I believe that seeking professional medical help is of paramount important to the healing of many many people
HOWEVER I do not advocate for the belief that medication is THE only hope, nor that diagnoses are a death sentence (at least within the realm of mental illness)

The disorganized & imbalanced mind is a sign of disorganized and imbalanced energy & everyone forgets to look at this
I believe that the PHYSICAL chemistry of your brain, which is responsible for regulating everything such as your mood and state of mind etc, are a manifestation of the ETHERIC energy which is the building block upon which those physical chemicals (along w everything else) exist
So: how do we reconcile the physical w the spiritual in order to maximize healing?

Seek help from ALL available channels. Go to a psychiatrist and see if you can find medication that helps (bc honestly most MI treatment is guessing which pill will make u feel least shitty)
If you find a medication that makes you feel better STICK WITH IT until you feel yourself get to what I call “the plateau of healing.” Those synthetic chemicals you’re ingesting can only take you so far, YOUUUU have to do the heavy lifting 🤷🏽‍♀️
When you find the plateau of healing, that’s when you know you NEED to move on to other options (although I recommend trying these from the get go)

THERAPY IS KEY!!! Processing your trauma and confronting whatever bits of yourself you’re hiding from is KEY!!!!
Learning about energy and the physiology of the etheric human body is key.

Look into chakras and chakra imbalance. Look into past lives. Dig deep to find whatever is buried within and manifesting as disorder within your mental health
MOST IMPORTANTLY THOUGH check yourself and check your beliefs!!!

So long as you adhere to the “I am broken, my brain is defective, I can’t help being this way, my diagnosis is my identity” narrative you will never truly get better
You have to keep reminding yourself that underneath the layers of tangled up energy that is your diagnosis there is still a whole ass individual who is perfect and balanced. Don’t forget to let yourself get back to that conclusion at some point!!!
Sometimes we need to own up to our diagnosis as a part of the healing process (like that relief you feel at knowing that it’s not your fault and that you literally have a condition that makes you feel the way you do..)

But we cannot forget to circle back to our TRUE selves
Healing from mental illness is just an extremely complex journey that includes mastery of ALL facets of the human existence: body, mind, heart AND spirit. Lets not get stuck in picking sides because the truth is we need to attack ALL SIDES simultaneously to see true results
If your medication and therapy helps you? Stick with it. If your yoga, crystals and meditation help you? Stick with it. If going vegan is what does it for you? Stick with it.

If you are able to do all of the above and then some?! STICK WITH IT.

Do whatever works for you✨
