He blocked me but maybe @jwpetersnyt would like to know that Gina Anders, the Republican businesswoman he interviewed who still likes Trump, is not your ordinary suburban GOP voter! Come along to a couple of links I found in 5 seconds on Google! 1/x
Here's a story from a West Virginia paper two months ago that IDs Anders as a zealous Tea Party type who, while living in the area, founded something called the Liberty Political Action Committee.

And here is part of Anders's bio on the Liberty PAC website, where she calls herself "an avid liberty activist."
And here is the Liberty PAC's home page: wvlpac.com

Check out one of its goals. Its members sure don't like "statists."
Here, of course, is how she's described in the NYT article, as if she's just some average GOP-leaning suburbanite who wonders why we can't all just get along.
Peters also describes Loudon as a "swing county," which given VA's purple-trending-to-blue character, it probably is. But does Anders sound like a persuadable swing voter, or a dug-in conservative tribalist? Because it's an important distinction.
Anders is described as someone who isn't always crazy about Trump, but feels a need to dig in to defend him anyway when he's attacked. But she's actually a conservative activist and Ron Paul acolyte. Long as her taxes are being cut, she'd defend any GOP president.
(Sorry, had to step away from computer for a bit. Anyway.) Doesn't knowing she's an activist with a history of pushing right-wing candidates through her own PAC, which Peters never mentions, change a reader's perception of her?
I would argue that yes, it does matter that she's not just a Republican with "a law degree, a business career" and no MAGA clothing in her closet. Any reporters disagree?
