(1) THREAD on #SecurityClearances & #WhiteSupremacists. @PBS/@ProPublica issued a story today abt #MichaelMiselis — a UCLA PhD student who works for #NorthropGrumman w/security clearance. He participated in Charlottesville as a violent White Supremacist.

pbs.org/wgbh/frontline…
(2) Miselis allegedly "pushed an African-American protester to the ground and began pounding on him," and "fought alongside RAM members, wrestling one protester to the ground and punching others" in Berkeley at a #Trump rally.
(3) RAM is Rise Above Movement, a Southern California group that expresses contempt for Muslims, Jews, and immigrants. A very typical #Trump supporting organization that President has never condemned. Pretty horrible group of Nazis basially. For info, read adl.org/resources/back…
(4) To be fair, Miselis denies the individual identified in film footage is him, and he wouldn't respond to PBS/Propublica questions. Northrop Grumman employees & e-mails, however, "make clear the company knows of Miselis’ actions in Charlottesville and involvement with RAM."
(5) What does this mean for his employment and/or security clearance? Is this the type of person who should hold a #securityclearance or work for the defense industry? He has not been arrested or charged with any offenses.
(6) Current Adjudicative Guidelines regarding #securityclearances were issued in 2005, took effect at DoD (which controls Miselis' collateral clearance at either Secret or Top Secret) in 2006. They were revised a year ago. Start on pg 22: ogc.osd.mil/doha/DIRECTIVE…
(7) #Securityclearance issues, which can mean many things, are far more about MITIGATION than refutation. Several Adjudicative Guidelines come into play based on description of Miselis' RAM membership and activities & I suspect DoD is currently investigating what to do w/him.
(8) Before even addressing Govt/security clearance issues, I wouldn't be surprised, unless he has term contract, Northrop Grumman releases him based on suitability and/or moral clauses in their employment guidelines. If so, sponsorship of him ceases & classified access stops.
(9) Adjudicative Guidelines that arguably could come into play to revoke his #securityclearance include "A" (Allegiance to US), "E" (Personal Conduct), "I" (Psychological Conditions), and/or "J" (Criminal Conduct). "E" and "J" clearly apply if facts are true.
(END) I am not going to opine what @DeptofDefense will or should do but these are serious allegations & worthy of investigation for sure. What I can say is if DoD does move to revoke his #securityclearance, my law firm @MarkSZaidPC will definitely NOT represent him.
