Calling out Putin on the world stage at a summit accomplishes nothing more than exacerbating an already existing problem. Obama did not do it when he was in office. He waited until he was back at the White House to claim he told Putin to cut it out.
Difference is Trump has something already prepared by the intelligence community to counter Russian interference in the midterms if Russia decides to meddle again. Which, it likely will. We had the capability to hit Iran with Stuxnet, do you really think we can't hit Russia?
The US can hit GRU far harder than it can hit us if Trump so wishes to do it. However, we'd receive some form of retaliatory strike by Russia. The US needs to do better at filtering out spam coming from Russia rather than escalating cyber warfare any further than it has risen.
People calling Russia's interference an act of war did not seem to mind when Russia meddled since the 1920s and through the 2012 and 2016 elections. You think that Russian spy ship that started snooping in Obama's first term was just on an ocean cruise?
Also, nobody in their right mind expects Putin to admit to anything even if he's guilty as sin. Probably another reason why Obama never did any such thing during any of his public meetings with Putin, same with Bush. It produces nothing of value other than an awkward moment.
As usual John Brennan criticizes Trump like broken clockwork. Brennan was CIA Director while all this was going on and his actions were? Nothing! He took no steps to prevent it, curtail it, or in any way, shape, or form to disrupt it.
How Mr. Brennan is Trump's acknowledgment of Putin's denial high crimes & misdemeanors but your dereliction of duty to protect country during actual act is not? Did you really think Trump would get an "aha moment" with Putin asking about it? You're worse at intel than I thought!
