OTD in 1939 the German–Soviet victory parade took place in Brest-Litovsk. Together we celebrated liberating Poland from the Poles as allies.
Today we justify this alliance, protest when monuments to the occupiers are removed & complain the victims want to join NATO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
We protected the Poles from the Nazis by killing thousands of Poles in such a systematic way we had to veto UN's 1st definition of genocide. We blamed these crimes on the Nazis. We lied.
We're the self described successor state to the USSR. Sometimes a troll hoping for promotion comes with what they think is a clever argument that forgets this.

OTD in 2015 the Russian Air force began bombing anyone but ISIS in Syria with aircraft we had denied we were even sending
A year later we said the mission was accomplished and we were leaving. Although we are still bombing & creating refugees for you & we have since said we've left a further 2 times.

We have not left.
Our bombs do not kill any civilians at all. None.

For some reason @MSF stopped sharing the locations of their hospitals with us although they still tell the imperialists where they are.

On this Day - 1939, the #Nazi-#Soviet Pact was announced in Moscow. As well as a 10-year Non-Aggression Pact, Stalin and Hitler agreed to divide central Europe between them. Here, Stalin toasts the pact with Hitler's photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann.
The Nazi-Soviet Pact gave #Hitler the green light for his plans to invade Poland: a week after its signature, German forces invaded their eastern neighbour. Poland's allies - Britain and France - responded by declaring war on Germany on 3 September. #WW2 in Europe had begun.
Two weeks later, on 17 September, #Stalin's Red Army also invaded #Poland, to claim the spoils promised by the Pact with Hitler. The two invading forces met at Brest-Litovsk, where a joint Red Army/Wehrmacht parade was held, with German and Soviet troops happily fraternising.

The physicist Hans Christian Ørsted was born #OTD in 1777. In 1820 he demonstrated an unexpected connection between electric and magnetic phenomenon, believed by many to be unrelated, initiating the development of the theory of electromagnetism.

Ørsted's discovery reputedly took place on April 21, 1820, as he prepared a demonstration during a lecture. When he connected a wire to a voltaic pile (a battery, or "galvanic apparatus") a nearby compass needle twitched as the current began to flow.
(There is some debate as to whether this was a genuinely unexpected discovery, or he expected something like this from previous experiments.)

The first test of "Operation Moon Bounce" took place #OTD in 1954, when Naval Research Laboratory engineer James Trexler spoke into a microphone, bounced the signal off the moon, and received the return signal a few seconds later.

"Operation Moon Bounce" was the first time a human voice had been sent beyond the ionosphere and then returned to Earth.

Let me show you how it worked:

That's it. They just bounced it off the Moon.
Hence the name.
