Absolutely scary. When you realize that the Supreme Court is an unelected and unaccountable court whose legacy traces to the British Raj & judges appoint judges.
The #deepstate Empires seeks to control India in different ways. KGB used to deliver suitcases of cash to Indira. Communist parties on the payroll. But as the Indian people are asserting their will, other options created.
1. FCRA-NGO system, $ billions of advocacy funding.
2. PIL System where these FCRA-NGOs can use the SC essentially as a law-making body, overriding the democratic representatives of the people on a whim.
3. Separate judicial institutions like NGT, where FCRA ecosystem can get their people directly into judicial roles.
In no other democratic country do judges appoint judges. Note the confirmation process in the US Congress. Elected president nominates, elected Congress confirms.
In India, collegium assures continuance of British legacy Court.
Te first "jan lokpal" gambit pushed by (Magsaysay awardee) Kejriwal was to have the Lokpal selected by "eminent" "independent" people which included Magsaysay winners. Magsaysay is a CIA-linked #deepstate award. Again, the idea was to create power over Indian democracy.
#PIL to decide on EC appointees has to be seen in that light. Another gambit to control Indian democracy. Expect proposal that "eminent" people be on the EC panel. "Eminent" and "Independent" are cue-words for undemocratic, unaccountable to people. Just like the Supreme Court.
Yes, the first Chief Justice of the "Indian" Supreme Court H J Kania had in 1943 been knighted for loyalty to the British Crown. Similarly for the person who actually drafted the Indian Constitution, B N Rau, who had been knighted in 1938 by the Crown.
Nothing suits the #deepstate more than the "collegium." It ensures an unelected cabal will have veto power over Indian people. Much easier to influence a small set of people than 1.3 billion citizens.
